1 oz Klondike Gold Rush Panning for Gold .99999 Gold Coin | 2022
This coin produced by the Canadian Mint is the second coin in the new Klondike Gold Rush series. The Canadian Mint originally started out as a branch of the Royal Mint in London and when Canada saw their need for coinage rise, London authorized a branch of the Royal Mint to be built in Ottawa in 1901(inaugurated in 1908).
Since then, it has been responsible for all the production and distribution of Canada’s coinage including this beautiful Klondike Gold Rush Panning for Gold coin.
The discovery in 1896 and the following gold rush in Klondike, a region of the territory of Yukon located in northwestern Canada played a very important part in Canada's history. Cries of "Gold! Gold! Gold in the Klondike!" started a race.100,000 hopeful miners sprinted toward Alaska and the Yukon with their eyes on riches. They abandoned their homes and embarked on an extended, life-threatening journey across treacherous, icy valleys and harrowing rocky terrain.
This coin makes sure it remembers those miners and captures the spirits of those who worked in Alaska and Yukon mines. The design on the reverse of the coin features a miner, mining for gold by pouring water into a rockers box, with a gold maple leaf coin flowing from the box.
Rockers boxes were used by miners by pouring water into the top, and by applying a rocking movement, it would help separate the gravel from the gold, which was caught by rifles that lined the bottom of the box. The water was typically captured and recycled many times. These methods helped form the popular image of Yukon as a mining frontier during the Klondike Gold Rush and put Canada on the map as a leading gold producer.
On the design can be found the word CANADA , the purity 1 oz of .99999 fine gold – the purest gold coin in the world.
The coin also features a micro-engraved maple leaf laser mark in the coin’s field. In the center of the mark, visible under magnification, is the numeral “22”, denoting the coin’s year of issue.
The obverse of the coin is a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who is the longest reigning monarch in the world. It displays the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the following inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II”, the face value “200 DOLLARS” backed by the Canadian government and “D G REGINA”. It has been designed by Susanna Blunt and has been in use on Canadian coins since 2003. Susanna Blunt was chosen amongst 8 competitors and created the image from a photograph of the Queen. She created a younger and purer version of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She has indeed abandoned the crown jewels and the tiara for a more simple pearl necklace and pearl earrings.
The gold rush has complicated effects still felt in the country today. (with Indigenous communities being displaced and disrupted). However, this is a significant chapter in Canada’s history and Canadians wanted to make sure it featured on this beautiful coin.
Now is your chance to acquire on Coininvest a remarkably designed coin which will fit nicely into your existing collection.
